Please introduce yourself. What do you do? Why? What do you want people to know about you?
Hello, my name is Ja’son Manwill and I am a World-Class Artiste, Singer-Songwriter, Music Publisher & Rock Music Producer. I create music that communicates to the world. I help other artists do the same. I do this because I love music and when I get on the piano, nothing else matters.
When I am on the ivory or take the stage anywhere in the world, it’s just me sharing my message of hope and inspiration to the world. I am just like all of you, I have had my ups and downs in life and music. In 2009 I had a traumatic brain injury and lost the ability to walk and talk and was a vegetable for about 7 years. I learned everything over again and today I have all my abilities back and even more. I had to learn how to walk and communicate again with my friends, family, and those I loved.
I know that one thing is true for me, if I can go through all the despair that I experienced and pick myself up and live again, as well as dream Bigger than I have ever dreamed, so can all of you. If you are a musician, artist, or creative being you deserve to have it all and success is your duty.
Now that I have a second chance at life, I’m not holding anything back. It is my intention that my music, lyrics, sold-out concerts, podcasts, and life itself inspire, encourage, and motivate you to live your best life now and not wait for tomorrow.
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
The identifying qualities that make me stand out in the industry are my ethics, integrity, punctuality, organization, and music creative production. If I say as an artist that I am going to be on stage at a certain time then I will be. The agreement is very important to me as an artist, and the agreement must be workable by both parties. If it is not, then both parties lose.
In today’s music industry, there are some artists that are not as ethical as me. I choose to show up in every way and BE 100% responsible for all my actions. It’s never someone else’s fault. Failure is NOT an option. My music targets and goals are BIGGER and I expect the people I work with to be the same or BIGGER. No is NOT an option nor in my vocabulary. I get it done, on time and make it all go right.
As an artist, someone who makes great music, my audience is expecting great delivery. I provide tremendous value in all the products and services I offer, sell and deliver. In other words, I over-promise and over-deliver to every fan and that’s my mission and motto when I go into the studio, co-write songs, produce tracks, or in life and business itself.
I am a different Artist for a new music generation. I am an example to 2.7 Billion people every day, in every part of the world and I live my life knowing that what I do matters, and someone might see me, hear about me, or meet me and change theirs as well.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you’re doing what you were born to do.
In 2016, I was at a seminar in Toronto Canada, and I was a student. I had this idea to take the PowerPoint slides and turn them into a song for all the attendees, so they could remind themselves of the content and engrain the data every day when they listen to the song. I started writing the song and it just came out on pen and paper in 3 days.
When I presented and shared the song with the group of attendees that were there, they all sang the song back to me. There is nothing better than having an artist’s words sang back to them. When you hear their voices in unison sing back your melody, and chorus, it just makes you smile.
It’s absolutely magical and gives you a feeling almost impossible to describe. It’s worth more than money, and that is their pay and acknowledgment to you. That day I knew that I wanted to be an Artist that helps and inspires billions across the world.
What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve had to go through and how did you grow through it?
The biggest challenge I have ever had to go through would be the traumatic brain injury in 2009. It changed me forever. At the time I was having 100 Grand-Mal seizures an hour with a 3-4 minute window and then another 100 and another and another. This continued straight for 18 months.
I had to learn how to walk and talk again, I learned American Sign Language to communicate with my family and friends. 21 weeks in physical therapy and pain so imaginable you can’t possibly believe. This I wrote down in full detail on my Facebook notes section at that time.
During those 7 years, the only thing I ever thought about was singing and playing/performing on stage again for audiences around the world. I successfully came out of that, learned how to walk, talk again, learned piano, drums, guitar, and cello again. Learned 24 other instruments of the orchestra, and got back on stage, just before COVID brought our industry to a screeching halt. The growth I have achieved since then has been due to my ability to recognize and observe whether something is true or not.
Now I see things differently and I am so grateful to be alive and not a vegetable. I have grown by leaps and bounds. In 2009, my day consisted of just going from bed to the bathroom, and that was exhausting! Now I get to live my Best life and 10x my music and lyrics and give inspiration and hope to others along the way.
Who are the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could elevate your career or business? Why these specific individuals?
The top 3 people that I want to meet in the industry would be Lizzy Hale from the band Halestorm, Elton John, and Max Martin.
