WHO: Throughout his illustrious career, composer, performer, producer and cultural ambassador JEAN-MICHEL JARRE has continued to break new ground with his music and his mastery of creative innovation. From his early pioneering role in electronic music, his use of multi-channel audio technology and production, to his recent explorations into the realms of VR performance and the metaverse, technology is at the forefront of everything he does. Jarre is UNESCO ambassador for education, science and culture, an unconditional defender of the planet and the environment and Laureate of the Stephen Hawking Medal for scientific communication. His current catalog, which now includes 22 studio albums, has generated sales of more than 85 million worldwide to date, and earned him countless awards and nominations. Throughout his career, Jarre has taken as canvas, some of the most iconic landmarks and UNESCO World Heritage sites around the globe for his creative, cultural and environmental message. He has also set new Guinness World Records for live audience attendance at concerts in several emblematic locations. He was the first western musician to be invited to perform in China and has also created and performed concert-events at the Great Pyramids in Egypt, the Sahara Desert, the Forbidden City & Tiananmen Square, the Eiffel Tower, the Dead Sea, Al Ula and more. WHY: VERSAILLES 400 is a uniquely hybrid artistic creation created specifically by Jean-Michel Jarre to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the Château de Versailles. On December 25, 2023, this concert will be an opportunity for Jarre, who is widely hailed as the Godfather of Electronic Music, and for his innovative approach to his spectacular live events, to celebrate contemporary French innovation as well as link the past to the future. The event takes place in a location that was at the origin of an incredible artistic revolution and to pay tribute to the great royal festivities that have marked the history and made the world-famous Château de Versailles, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Central to the work will be the excellence of French know-how in the digital arts and industries of the 21st century in the very heart of an emblematic place symbolizing artistic and technological excellence in the 17th century: the Hall of Mirrors at the Château de Versailles. Wearing the LYNX mixed reality headset, the French musician will perform this concert simultaneously in front of a real audience in the Hall of Mirrors, and in the metaverse in the center of a futuristic Hall of Mirrors with a virtual audience connected in VR or on tablets and smartphones.
The performance will take place with a limited number of live audience, and simultaneously in virtual reality on VR platform VRROOM at 20hCET//2:00pm ET//11:00am PT The show will be broadcast on French National TV & radio same night at 23.10 CET//5:10pm ET//2:10pm PT followed closely with a Youtube stream worldwide (except for France).
