Since the inception of the project in the summer 2020 after spending the majority of the previous year recording new music in Los Angeles, LAYKS has served as Martin’s main musical outlet and has seen the band embarking on both UK and European headline tours at some of the most iconic venues and stages around the world.
Their debut EP “cry baby” transported us to a place of heartfelt sincerity blended into ethereal indie pop love songs which spoke on the vulnerability of companionship, it was striking debut which has remained in the hearts of fans across the world since its release.
The new EP, ‘If This All Ends Tomorrow’ serves as not only a natural progression, but an evolution to Martin’s earlier work and embodies everything that has informed him as a songwriter for the past four years.
With new sounds, new textures, new instrumentation and a new approach to production and various styles of arrangement, LAYKS has truly found its voice in ITAET and it’s a voice that asks “what are we all doing here? what will happen if everything changes?” a question that has become a narrative the world over in a post-pandemic existence.
This EP is a reminder that the most fleeting things in life are often the most precious, they are a reminder for us to live in the moment and let go.
