September 13, 2024 – Atlanta, GA: Atlanta darkwavers Now After Nothing release their debut EP Artificial Ambivalence today. It is out on the band’s own label Living On Neptune(s) and is available on all digital platforms and vinyl.
Frontman Matt Spatial says: “I am so proud to release “Artificial Ambivalence” out into the world after a long, bumpy road traveled. While this EP is a true labor of love, I would be remiss in not mentioning that it was sometimes also a labor of pain, lots of introspection, and unbridled soul-quenching.
What started as a desperate need to return to songwriting a few years ago has culminated into this EP; summarizing just the first chapter for Now After Nothing.”
The EP had some help with mixing by Carl Glanville. “Though you may not know him by name, I’d venture to say many have heard his work from a 15+ year stint as an engineer with a little Dublin-based group called U2. If you’ve ever heard their song, “Vertigo”, you’ve heard Carl at work.
Working with Carl was an absolute dream come true as he understood my vision from day one and was able to take the recorded tracks to a level far exceeding my expectations. He is truly a master of his craft.”

Now After Nothing is helmed by Matt Spatial and have started to make waves locally after releasing a series of singles showcasing the band’s goth and post-punk influences. Artificial Ambivalence was written and performed by Spatial along with drummer Michael Allen and also features additional guitar work by Mark Gemini Thwaite, who has played with Peter Murphy, The Mission, and Gary Numan.
Spatial says: “Musically, I came in to the project with no preconceived notions on what the final results may be. Originally, intended to be a solo album without a live band, I put up no boundaries on adhering to a certain style/genre nor was I concerned with over-reaching on the many any layers that are present throughout. And barriers be damned, we have found a way to successfully portray the EP in a live setting and look forward to spending more and more time on stage for all to experience.”
Now After Nothing have also announced select live dates supporting this EP and their first show is a hometown gig on September 14 at Center Stage with Glass Spells and DJ Goth Dad (Dusty Gannon from Vision Video.) The band also proudly supports Atlanta’s LifeLine Animal Project– a non-profit org that runs the animal shelters for the two main Atlanta counties with a mission to end shelter euthanasia. They will be selling a ‘Meow After Nothing’ cat design T-shirt at shows and online with a portion of proceeds to be donated to the organization.

October 9 – Savannah, GA – Lodge of Sorrows with Al1ce and DJ Syntax Error
