Leading independent publishing company PRESCRIPTION SONGS has extended their publishing deal with GRAMMY-nominated artist, producer and songwriter Fridayy. The news was announced on (August 19) by Prescription Songs founder Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald, Rhea Pasricha, Head of A&R, West Coast and Eddie Fourcell, VP of A&R.
Philly-bred, Haitian-American vocalist Fridayy first signed to Prescription Songs in the summer of 2022. This new extension comes on the heels of Fridayy’s single “When It Comes To You” being certified platinum.
Through his relationship with DJ Khaled, Eddie Fourcell, Fridayy’s A&R at Prescription, sent Khaled the standout chorus of an idea that Fridayy created which would go on to become the GRAMMY-nominated “GOD DID” and feature hip hop heavyweights Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross & John Legend.
The song, with Fridayy’s guest artist feature, production and songwriting credits, earned three nominations at the 65th Annual GRAMMY Awards: “Song of the Year,” “Best Rap Song” and “Best Rap Performance.” It would also go on to become Fridayy’s first entry on the Billboard Hot 100, debuting at #17. This would cement the foundation for Fridayy as a solo artist and set off a string of features on a number of releases from hip-hop and R&B who’s who.
In January 2024, Fridayy debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time ever as a solo artist with “When It Comes To You” which appears on his self-titled debut album via Def Jam. The song has now officially hit RIAA certified Platinum status (his first as a solo artist), joining his previous breakouts with Khalid’s Gold “GOD DID” and Lil Baby’s Platinum “Forever.”
His highest charting single as a producer/writer credits on Drake’s “Calling 4 You” from his #1 album For All The Dogs, which debuted at #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and become Fridayy’s first Top 10 global charting single as a producer/writer.
Francis “Fridayy” LeBlanc was born and raised in Philadelphia, which contributes to his lifelong love of music and entertainment. Fridayy’s father enrolled him into the band at the age of 10 in which he played the trumpet. As he progressed in the band, he started teaching himself how to play the piano and bass.
Fridayy made his first mark singing by way of the church at the age of 13 which led to him finding a deeper passion for music. By his late teens he found a new love for the art of producing and songwriting. Now at the age of 27 Fridayy has found himself in a variety of different situations where he has been able to take what was once a dream and turn that into a successful career.
“Prescription feels like home for me!” Fridayy shares. “Shout out to Eddie! Without him who knows where I would be! All I ever needed was an opportunity and Eddie and Prescription provided that! Now we here and life looks a lot different!”
Adds Fridayy’s manager Edgar Cutino, “It’s an honor to work alongside such a great team at Prescription. 6 months after meeting my brother Eddie, all our lives changed for the better! Believing in someone is only the start! Doing the work after is what makes long lasting careers! Eddie was the mixture of both! If he doesn’t send ‘God Did’ to Khaled none of this is possible.
I want to thank Luke & Rhea for empowering a great executive to sign a kid with no placements who was just dope! That is what you bring talented people into your company to do! Bring greatness to the table! Shout out to our team for the months of hard work it took to get this done! My partner Chris Washington, our incredible lawyers Brian Drach & Jason Berger and the amazing Dayna Gomez who keeps everything with us running!”
“From the moment Eddie first played me Fridayy’s music, I knew he was a special talent. We are excited and honored to extend our publishing partnership with Fridayy and know this next chapter together will be even bigger and better,” says Prescription Songs founder Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald.
