SINGER-SONGWRITER-INSTRUMENTALIST-PRODUCER VENUS
RELEASES MUSIC VIDEO FOR DREAMY NEW SINGLE “THINGS CHANGE”
“It’s difficult not to be transported by the beauty of the song. The luscious vocals and calming tempo create an ethereal vibe check that feels like you are in the presence of a goddess, reassuring you lyrically and spiritually. While we can’t fight the momentum of time passing, one thing you can change is giving this artist a listen and enjoy the best sonic fortune coming from Fontana in some time.”
– DJ Connor, Ones To Watch
Following the release of her single “Things Change” last week, Southern California-based singer-songwriter-instrumentalist-producer VENUS is diving deeper into the project with the release of a new music video out today, September 22. This dreamy soundscape is the first track to come out ahead of an EP project in the works, which is being composed entirely by Venus herself. Following years of self-discovery, refining her sound, and a collaborative EP release with her group Ahmore which garnered critical acclaim, Venus is embarking on a new chapter with the aptly titled “Things Change.”
“Things Change” is out now on all digital platforms:

Drawing inspiration from her vastly diverse musical tastes, Venus writes, records, and produces within the walls of her home. This new track, “Things Change,” is characterized by its soothing demeanor, velvet vocals, hypnotic guitar riffs, and boisterous synthesizers. In her own words it’s “a hazy and misty lullaby for pondering the inevitability of change.”
DJ Connor of Ones To Watch dubbed “Things Change” “an ethereal salve for life’s woes” and went on to add “The progeny of mythical goddesses is deliberately hard to discern, a half step of knowledge too difficult for any mere mortal to understand, but rarely do they land you in Fontana, California. Yet as the title to this dreamy ethereally sonic pearl from Venus suggests, ‘Things Change,’ and we find this rising artist not only propelling pop prophecies from a Los Angeles exurb but morphing her sound, ‘exiting her comfort zone’ to impressive results.”
The music video–directed and produced by frequent creative collaborator Cassey Ver alongside fellow director Samarah Solorio–was inspired by the film Everything Everywhere All at Once and the film’s quote, “The universe is so much bigger than you realize.” The filming took place at various locations across Los Angeles and captures both the dreamlike, at times hypnotic, mood of the song combined with the common relatability of daily life that is reflected in the lyrics. To note, this video may potentially trigger seizures for people with photosensitive epilepsy; viewer discretion is advised.
Venus has a soft spot for writing soothing, infectious music and relatable narratives. A singer, songwriter, instrumentalist and producer, she combines these strengths into an undeniable dreamlike fusion of indie/alternative, pop, and new wave. For Venus, music is meant to be a “soundtrack to the stories of our lives.” This truth saw a great rush of output and ascent into the conversation when her group Ahmore released the EP Sonder (2021), publicly recognized by Uproxx “Best New R&B,” Fusicology and more.
