Colby! and Shaya Zamora Go Dark on New Collaboration, “MONSTER”

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Up-and-coming pop ingenue colby! joins forces with rising singer/songwriter Shaya Zamora for “Monster,” a moody new duet and its accompanying “Stranger Things” inspired music video. Listen HERE and watch HERE.

“‘Monster’ is about two people stuck in a toxic relationship. They don’t bring out the best in each other, and they know it, but for some reason, they can’t let go—or even try to become better for one another,” shared colby! on the inspiration behind the haunting track.

Over a sparse bassline, colby!’s dreamy vocals blend with Zamora’s grounded baritone. “One day, I got a text from Shaya with a little audio file and a message that just said, ‘Hey, what do you think about this song idea?’ It was just a verse and chorus idea, but I loved it right away,” explained colby!. “I took it to my brother and producer, RJ, and from there, we started messing around with it—sending it back and forth with Shaya.

The whole process came together pretty quickly. The song was a bit different from what I had written before, both lyrically and sonically, so it was fun to explore and bring it to life. And I’m so glad Shaya featured on it—I think what we ended up with is really special.”

colby! most recently released “To Each Their Own,” which Clout celebrated as “absorbing and vibrant,” while lauding colby! as “an artist that we can’t get enough of as of late.” She is actively writing and recording with new music expected throughout the year.
