In late 2022 NCT sub-group WayV release their fourth mini album, Phantom, via SM Entertainment [AVAILABLE HERE]. It’s title track “Phantom” is a hip-hop-based dance pop song with avant-garde elements, smooth vocal harmonies, and magnificent string sound.
The lyrics compare adversity and hardship to a phantom, expressing one’s will to overcome the phantom instead of being controlled by it. These elements are revisited today by South Korea’s rising production stars Pierre Blanche and IMLAY for two dance-floor ready-remixes for “iScream Vol.23: Phantom Remixes.”

iScreaM is the project by leading Korean music platform SM Entertainment’s EDM label ScreaM Records where global DJs and producers participate in releasing remix singles of SM artists’ music. For the “Phantom (Pierre Blanche Remix)” find South Korea’s Pierre Blanche adding WayV’s vocals and melodic synth sounds on top of a heavy techno beat.
The magnificent atmosphere of the original track is expressed with the unique explosive energy of electronic music. IMLAY’s “Phantom (IMLAY Remix)” is a garage genre track which utilizes a distortion base that contrasts with the bright, dreamy codes, leaving a strong impression as conflicting moods blend into one. In the second half of the track, the utilization of the scratch sound and the adjusted vocal pitch effect adds fun to the track.
