Please introduce yourself. What do you do? Why? What do you want people to know about you?
I’m a one-man band that writes and self produces his own music.
Through Mists is my first solo project and I’ve immersed myself in creating as much music and learning as much about production as I can since the pandemic started.
I write, record, and produce it all in my home studio, and do all the promotional stuff and distribute it all myself.
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
My adaptability and learning process is quite quick, and have gone from a complete noob in production to someone who is confident in their skills enough to release music for public consumption.
I’ve been writing music since the early 2000s and have come into my own for the message with Through Mists. I’ve created and am expanding a storyline and concept band, so the entirety of the lyrics is a story that is growing with each release.
Speaking of releases, I plan and have been releasing some form of music every month.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you’re doing what you were born to do.
I had taken a decade off from music and realized during the pandemic that there is no time but the present to take advantage of the skills I have and to learn more about the things I need to create more and more music by myself.
It was an afternoon in April 2020 where I was a bit down but then something sparked in me and was like “You know what? Let’s do this thing!” and just jumped headfirst into music again.
What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve had to go through and how did you grow through it?
My biggest challenge as a solo artist and self producer was to learn how to be entirely self-sufficient.
I needed to relearn guitar and bass techniques, brush up on my music and songwriting, and then I had to self teach myself music production from the ground up.
It was a grind but the payoff has been worth it.
