Actor And Musician Brady Carpenter Shares How His Passion For Film Began

Please introduce yourself. What do you do? Why? What do you want people to know about you?

My name is Brady Carpenter. I’m a 14-year-old actor and musician based in Charlotte, North Carolina. I love to act and be on stage. I also like to play guitar, drums, bass, lead guitar, piano, lead synth and produce music on my laptop.

I love the process of filming and want to pursue being in the film industry for the rest of my life.

What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?

I’m always told I never do not want to do something new. If there’s something I see interesting, I’ll learn more about it. I also research a lot of things.

I’ve accomplished almost everything on my own whether that’s just getting auditions or gaining interest on social media platforms.

Describe THAT moment when you realized you’re doing what you were born to do.

it was 2018 and I did a show with Mathews playhouse called the Jungle Book. The audience was packed with telemetry school kids on a field trip. I was so nervous because it was my first show other than a school play.

I stepped out on stage, legs shaking, and did my scene. I made the whole crowd laugh with a silly dance I did. That was when I knew I wanted to make people happy with entertainment for the rest of my life.

What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve had to go through and how did you grow through it?

All throughout middle school, I was told I would never be good enough. Even my friends would tell me, “Oh, you’re never gonna get that role.” It really hurt and I felt so alone.

But when I was little, my dad put up a quote on my wall by Michael Jordan. It said, “I can accept failure. But I can’t accept not trying.” I was saying that over and over in my head when people would tell me to quit. I’ve been saying that quote for the past 7 years and it’s helped me so much.

Who are the TOP 3 people you’d want to meet that could elevate your career or business? Why these specific individuals?

Well, my musical inspiration is Charlie Puth because he’s doing what I’m doing. Making songs in my bedroom for hours on end. I really relate to this guy and I would love to meet him because he could mentor me further in my music journey.

For acting, I’m going to have to say Timothée Chalamet because he is an astonishing well-rounded actor. To be honest, I don’t know why he doesn’t have more academy awards. I would love to meet Timothée. Who knows maybe he could put in a good word with some producers or directors.

Kevin Feige is another inspiration of mine. He’s worked extremely hard to be in the position he is now and I’m grateful he is because his movies are fantastic. I’ve loved Marvel ever since I was a kid so meeting him would be awesome. Oh and not to mention he is the president of Marvel and I’m an actor, so maybe he could keep my headshot and we could keep in touch.
