Please introduce yourself. What do you do? Why? What do you want people to know about you?
Ukrainian born, and raised in Central Asia – Kyrgyzstan, Berlin-based director Asel Suluu with a passion for video making from a young age before launching into a career as a model, actress, and entrepreneur.
What qualities make you different and unique from everyone else in the industry?
Asel’s solid visual aesthetic has become well sought after, she prefers to work with diverse casting, and create dynamic stories with innovative concepts.
Describe THAT moment when you realized you’re doing what you were born to do.
Creativity has always been a huge part of my life. Even from a young age, I recorded little videos on a camcorder or performed with my brother for the family.
What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve had to go through and how did you grow through it?
I am currently self-employed and working on my video and film projects as a content creator, and producer. But it wasn’t always like that. I had times where I haven’t followed my dreams.
My passion has always been filming and video production. My first production experience was in Kyrgyzstan (my home country). Together with a friend we produced a TV program for the young generation, I managed the production and editing of the whole program.
After this time I went abroad, to Berlin, to study here and to do my Master’s in Project Management. After graduation I accompanied various projects as a product manager, also I gained experience in IT, but I wasn’t in my place. It took me years to recognize that I’m unhappy, quit my job and start my own path into video production.
