Emerging talent colby! has released her new track, “You,” giving listeners another peak into her upcoming EP, FINE!, arriving on June 6. Listen HERE.
“‘You’ reflects the psychological tug-of-war between rebellion and unwanted influence —resenting someone’s power over you so deeply that you begin to mirror them, even unconsciously,” colby! shared. “It is very much closure. For the listener, it is the unfinished business that you do not want to say to the person.”
After holding on to the chorus for almost two years, colby! and her older brother RJ Johnson, who wrote the bones of the song together, connected with King Henry and Georgia Webster to finish the song in Nashville.
“Sometimes the best ideas just need time and the right people around to help shape them,” the singer/songwriter explained. The new track is a part of colby!’s upcoming EP FINE!, which also includes tracks “Out Of Sight” and “Monster” released earlier this year.
